In UK English Siri is a 'he', or at least has a masculine voice. So I think you should leave 'it' intact for international relevance if nothing else. Dont get hit (tyler green) mac os.
Well, Siri in the UK uses a man's voice, so it would be a 'he'. 'It' is more universal.
French Siri has a male voice too.
Just wanted to point out that to say that Siri initiates a download is misleading. iOS 5 handles requests to play songs on iTunes Match that are not already on the device by streaming them (technically I'm sure it downloads the track, but it doesn't save that download to your local music library). A track is only downloaded to the device if the iCloud download icon is selected. Siri, then, is only persisting the default behavior of the Music app when a song not resident on the device is selected.
I'm not sure if I have a different preference set somewhere in settings, but after playing the song, it appears in my music library and can be 'deleted' reverting it to downloadable status. This leads me to believe that the music is 'downloaded' not 'streamed', but I may be wrong.
Put me down for 'she' (American). And if I get 3 votes wife and daughter both use she for Siri as well.

Siri is an it (IMO) but I often think of it as her.
That written, the use of a feminine pronoun would have had no negative affect on the clarity of the post, so why change it? Are all posts are corrected for proper grammar?
My goal is to have the hints be readable, but there are, in fact, certain stylistic guidelines I also try to follow. Not always successfully, to be sure.
Don't anthropomorphize Siri.

I suppose Apple did an excellent job giving Siri humanity. A voice shouldn't decide gender, so my apologies for pigeonholing Siri into the female gender. However, I do think the intent is to call Siri by the 3rd person feminine singular in the US, and so for clarity with my fellow US citizens I refer to Siri as 'her'. This thread is getting very Isaac Asimov :-)

..and of course 'Iris' is the attempt by an Android team to copy Siri's capabilities.
perhaps a side thread, but i find it interesting that the apple socio-anthropology dept acknowledged that the US base is more comfortable with a female-voiced assistant while in the UK a male-voice would be more accepted.
I suspect it has more to do with the best voice they could create with the appropriate accent.
Regarding the downloading of the song this is a feature of iTunes Match and not Siri. If you check the documentation, the 'agent' will also remove songs that are not played very often(or not at all) from your phone to conserve space and then re-download them if do decide to play them.

Funny you should mention this. I recently got the 4S (less than a fortnight ago) and my wife has made fun of me ever since because I keep referring to Siri as 'she.' She thinks I'm way too into my phone. In reality, it's just that I'm constantly reminded that the person's voice is a woman's voice every time she speaks. The other commenter makes a good point though. It would make sense to remember to say 'it' since the UK version is a male's voice.
